On the Speed of Spread for Fractional Reaction-Diffusion Equations
The fractional reaction diffusion equation ∂tu+Au = g(u) is discussed, where A is a fractional differential operator on R of order α ∈ (0, 2), the C function g vanishes at ζ = 0 and ζ = 1 and either g ≥ 0 on (0, 1) or g < 0 near ζ = 0. In the case of non-negative g, it is shown that solutions with initial support on the positive half axis spread into the left half axis with unbounded speed if g...
متن کاملSpeed of reaction-diffusion fronts in spatially heterogeneous media.
The front speed problem for nonuniform reaction rate and diffusion coefficient is studied by using singular perturbation analysis, the geometric approach of Hamilton-Jacobi dynamics, and the local speed approach. Exact and perturbed expressions for the front speed are obtained in the limit of large times. For linear and fractal heterogeneities, the analytic results have been compared with numer...
متن کاملSpeed of wave-front solutions to hyperbolic reaction-diffusion equations.
The asymptotic speed problem of front solutions to hyperbolic reaction-diffusion (HRD) equations is studied in detail. We perform linear and variational analyses to obtain bounds for the speed. In contrast to what has been done in previous work, here we derive upper bounds in addition to lower ones in such a way that we can obtain improved bounds. For some functions it is possible to determine ...
متن کاملMinimal speed of fronts of reaction-convection-diffusion equations.
We study the minimal speed of propagating fronts of convection-reaction-diffusion equations of the form u(t)+microphi(u)u(x)=u(xx)+f(u) for positive reaction terms with f(')(0)>0. The function phi(u) is continuous and vanishes at u=0. A variational principle for the minimal speed of the waves is constructed from which upper and lower bounds are obtained. This permits the a priori assessment of ...
متن کاملPullback D-attractors for non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equations in unbounded domains
At present paper, we establish the existence of pullback $mathcal{D}$-attractor for the process associated with non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equation in $L^2(mathbb{R}^n)times L^2(mathbb{R}^n)$. In order to do this, by energy equation method we show that the process, which possesses a pullback $mathcal{D}$-absorbing set, is pullback $widehat{D}_0$-asymptotically compact.
